United Methodist Church Business Administrator Training to Be Held in Nashville

Nashville, TN — June 20-30, 2016 – The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) is announcing that the annual training event for United Methodist Church Business Administrators will be held in Nashville at the GCFA Ministry Center near Music Row.  Moses Kumar, chief executive for GCFA said “we are honored to continue the strong tradition and standard of excellence that has been provided by the Candler School of Theology.  Hosting the event in Nashville will continue the quality training provided for leaders of our denomination. GCFA is looking forward to hosting the Academy in Nashville beginning in 2016.”

For nearly thirty-five years, the Candler School of Theology hosted the National Institute of Church Finance and Administration (NICFA), a program of the National Association of Church Business Administrators (NACBA). The change provides opportunities for United Methodist business administrators to also connect with general agency resources available in Nashville and throughout the connection.

Through The Church Network, United Methodist participants will meet the requirements to obtain the additional designation as a Certified United Methodist Church Administrator (CUMCA).  Rev. Bob Winstead will continue to serve as the Director of the Academy of Church Business Administration (ACBA).  Rev. Winstead has an 8 year history as the director of the former NICFA program and over 20 years affiliated with the program.  GCFA is excited that Rev. Winstead will remain part of the program in this capacity.

Rev. Winstead said, “The ACBA certification program offers church leaders, pastors, executive pastors and church administrators the opportunity to learn the business of ministry. Training topics include: legal and tax matters, human resources, office and financial management, strategic planning, facilities management, conflict resolution, information technology and more. Churches that attend to these details allow ministry to thrive.”

The first training will be held in Nashville, June 20-30, 2016.  To learn more and register for the training, click here.
