Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON) – West Michigan has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
JFON-West Michigan is hosting an open house to celebrate our clients, volunteers, supporters and community partners. The event is used to broaden awareness for the need for high-quality, low-cost immigration legal services in West Michigan. We have set an ambitious goal to raise $8k through this event, social media promotion and online donations.
Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Event location: First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton E., Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Event Time: 10am to 2pm
“JFON is a grassroots organization striving to make the communities where it works more welcoming to immigrants. A donation to JFON on Giving Tuesday will give many returns – an opportunity for an immigrant to escape persecution or violence, adjust immigration status, orreceive authorization to work. Our work keeps families together and provides an opportunity a better life for themselves and their children.” Laura Rampersad, Event Coordinator for JFON-West Michigan.
