NEW EVENT! This is a weekend for adults with special needs and a caregiver. Come for a weekend of winter fun – including Bible stories, crafts, music and much more! Cost includes two overnights, five meals and program supplies. Double Occupancy – $175 per person (one camper/one caregiver); Triple Occupancy(one camper/two caregivers) – $155 per person; Quad Occupancy $125 per person (two campers/two caregivers).

Some Michigan Area leaders were sporting their Hands4Detroit tee shirts at Comerica Park on September 15. They are reaching out to encourage all hands to join them on October 7 for a day of service in the city.         

Hands4Detroit is an annual community outreach event hosted by the Detroit Renaissance District of The United Methodist Church.

Join with the Renaissance District and community organizations for a wonderful day of service in Southwest Detroit on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

The day begins with check-in at 8 am at the Western International High School, 1500 Scotten Street, Detroit, MI 49209  (map here). Closing celebration is at 3 pm at Centro Familiar Cristiano UMC, 1270 Waterman Street, Detroit, MI 49209 (map below).

There’s work in between at assigned locations. Lend your hands, whatever kind of hands they are. All hands are needed. Click to learn more.

Special Visiting VBS – Erie UMC

The Committee on Native American Ministries of The Detroit Conference is sponsoring a Special Visiting Vacation Bible School with the help of Erie United Methodist Church.

The activities will take place August 7-11, 2017 at the Saganing Native American Center, 5450 Sturman Road, Standish, MI  48658.

There is an open invitation to neighboring churches and the Anishinabe community to bring a group and join the fun. The theme is “Journey with J.W.” VBS will be held daily, Monday-Friday, from 9 am to 1 pm. Lunch will be provided.

License as a Local Pastor School ~ 2017

The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry requires 80 hours of hands on teaching.  The school begins with a 40-hour-week intensive at Lake Huron Retreat Center beginning July 16 and ending July 20

There will be 4 weekend teachings (one Friday/Saturday a month in August, September, October and November) and the dates for those will be determined in July.  The November teaching weekend also includes the Sunday certification worship service.

Children are especially vulnerable:

40 percent of human trafficking cases involve the sexual exploitation of a child.

Between 100,000 and 300,000 children are at risk for sexual exploitation in the U.S. with an average age of 11 to 14 years old.
