Is your church struggling to implement an online strategy that will attract new faces and keep your own congregation informed? Communicating Faith in the 21st Century is a United Methodist Communications (UMCOM) workshop that will teach how to effectively communicate in today’s society and to equip your faith community to share transforming stories.
This day-long program at the Michigan Area Ministry Center focuses on going beyond just having a church website to effectively implementing a broader online presence. Designed for those with limited social media experience, UMCOM will cover the basics of launching a successful online strategy that helps people connect with your church in a new way.
This workshop will also focus on implementing a broader online presence, using the social media tools of today. By engaging your audience online first, you extend your reach beyond Sunday services and expose your audience to your message before they visit your church.

A Workshop for Non-Hispanic/Latino Congregations Interested in Developing Hispanic/Latino Ministries
Sponsored by The West Michigan Conference Committee on Hispanic/Latino Ministries
This workshop is a ‘how to’ develop ministries with Hispanics and Latinos. You will learn about Hispanic/Latino culture, different models of ministry, and some challenges in developing the ministry.
At the end of the workshop, you will have completed a plan with first steps to reaching out and being in ministry with Hispanics/Latinos. This workshop is a safe space to come and ask questions and learn. You are invited to help fulfill God’s vision of the church that was born on that day on Pentecost, a “church for all nations” and “a church that affirms the cultural identities and not just the language of those among whom we are called to witness.”
It is recommended that each church bring a team of at least 3 people to the workshop.
The resource used for this workshop will be Pentecost Journey: A Planning Guide for Non-Hispanic/Latino Congregations.
